Happy March and I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. We have two events coming up this month to start the year off.

    Miatas on Main

Our monthly Miatas on Main meetup will be resuming on Monday, March 27th at the Big Woods in Speedway. I'm excited to see everyone's cars out of winter hibernation for conversation and dinner that evening.

    Service Opportunity at Sheltering Wings
    Save the date, March 25

I think one of my favorite things about driving the Miata is the way a lot of folks faces light up when they see it. These little cars have a knack for spreading joy and as a club we have the opportunity to do the same here in our hometown of Indianapolis. We are making an effort as a club to get into the habit of giving back to our community.

To that end, we made some monetary contributions to local charitable organizations near the end of last year. We want to further that effort by getting hands-on and helping out those in need around our city. Indy Miata Club will be volunteering at Sheltering Wings in Danville, which provides emergency shelter for survivors of domestic abuse.

As of right now, the plan is to help them clean up their landscaping for the spring but there will be other tasks available if you are not comfortable with that work. We will have more specifics available by mid-March but for now please register and block out a few hours that morning to make a difference. Let's show the same love to our community that we have for our cars!

Wishing you the best regards and many zoom-zooms,

    Alex Griffith
    President

    Greetings fellow Miata enthusiasts,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and discuss the coming year. I am thrilled to be serving in the position of president at the club for 2023 and can’t wait to enjoy some top-down motoring with you all. 2022 has been a great year of camaraderie and events for us. Our club enjoyed some healthy growth and great turnout at some events – at our visit to Astro Autosport we had 41 cars in attendance! We hope to carry that momentum going into next year so we can enjoy these cars with more people.

That said, we do have a need for some help managing the club. The Vice President and Treasurer roles are currently unfilled for next year. These are not cumbersome positions by any means, but we certainly need a couple of motivated individuals to help out in this regard. If you are passionate about the club and willing to give us a hand, please get in touch with us at webmaster@indymiata.org and we’d love to talk through things with you.

Finally, we are also planning to incorporate some community outreach into the club. We are starting things out with $1,000 donations to Gleaners Food Bank and Sheltering Wings respectively this holiday season. We’re also planning to have club volunteer events next year for us to get more involved in-person. If there are any charitable organizations that are near to your heart or you are interested in helping to organize outreach events, be sure to let us know!

I hope to see everyone at the Luncheon and Club Meeting on January 14th – don’t forget to register if you haven’t done so already.

    Let’s make 2023 a great year!

    - Alex Griffith

Hi everyone, quick update on a couple changes to our club memberships and processes.

    Membership Period

Our club membership period is now based on your original membership “join date”. In the past, we operated on a calendar year basis, so everyone renewed on January 1st. With our new member management platform, when a new member joins the club, that date becomes their membership “join date”. Club membership period will continue to be one year from your join date.

This is a nice new feature as someone joining late in a calendar year might have been dissuaded to join or would only get a few months before having to renew again. Moving to a “join date” renewal also spreads out the accounting throughout the year.

    Renewal Notices

Our new membership software will automatically send a renewal notification email on your join date. For most everyone in the club, that will be January 1st. Renewals are very easy and are securely processed online. All major credit/debit cards are accepted.

If you have any questions or encounter an issue, please post a message in the Club forum, or send me an email.

On behalf of the Indy Miata Club Board & Staff, thank you for being a club member!
