Ann is a retired elementary school teacher and I am retired after a career in the automotive industry from Magna International. We bought our Miata from Tom Roush the first day of my retirement - a present from us to us! We enjoy it very much. Looking for people with the same interest!!
Well, I was actually on my way to look at a MGB that I might purchase when I found our Miata. My intention was to purchase a little car sports car that could be half project car and half fun car for my wife and I to take out on weekends and perhaps do a little touring. I really had no idea what a Miata was all about. After the first drive I came to the conclusion very quickly, that although similar is some ways this was no MGB and this little Miata could be a great deal of fun.
Then after I purchased the car I found out there are Miata clubs, I mean a lot of Miata clubs! This little car has a huge following. I guess sometimes its better to be lucky then smart. My wife and I have a great time at all the Indy club events. I served as President of the club in 2008.
We sold our 96 Starlight Mica Blue and am currently driving the 2015 Brilliant black.
I wanted a cruiser motorcycle but Denise said she would rather have a convertible car. We settled on a 2000 Miata special edition in September 2007. Have not regretted it at all! We became members in mid 2009. We thoroughly enjoy the club, members and activities.
I am currently the Membership Director,
After tagging along with dad for the past two years on rallies when mom was working, I jumped at the opportunity to own my own 2000 Miata in June 2015. It took me a few months to learn how to drive it since it is my first manual, but it has been well worth it. Really enjoying all the topless driving!
I am currently the Secretary for the club.
I've always wanted a fun roadster and found our 2003 black & tan in mid 2011. Both Ann & I have really enjoyed the car and the members of the Indy Miata club. We've traveled in it and enjoyed our tour in the Blue Ridge Mountains in it/.
When Cindi and I bought our Miata, we were looking for a 2-seater convertible to drive without the kids! Thought the miata was the sportiest, best looking car & is a perfect fit for us!
We've been a Miata "family" for more than 15 years now. And have loved every minute of it.
Miata #1, the "Gringo" ('99 Emerald Mica), was purchased in March, 2000. It was my daily driver in addition to carrying us on many adventures including annual trips to the Dragon and several major Miata events around the Midwest and East. It also made us Charter members in the Indy Miata "100,000 Mile" Club. It had 165,300 miles on the odo when passed along to new club members early in 2011.
Miata #2, our '95 Montego Blue, made us a 2-Miata family for a couple of years before being traded for "Pepe McPew", a white 2001 with black stripes
Pepe (#3) has been every bit as dependable as the "Gringo", but isn't seeing as many miles due to the lack of "daily driving". The majority of Pepe's miles (IN-IL-MO-OH-MI-KY-TN-VA-NC-WV) have been pleasurable, including a couple of "tours" around the Speedways in Indy & Bristol TN, and well-known roads, the Snake and the Devil's Triangle. Surprisingly, Pepe hasn't made the Dragon in the period we've owned him. We may have to correct that soon.
We have a 1990 Red Miata with black interior that I
purchased in 1994. We then added a green NB to the stable. I am a part-time race photographer
for Road and Track Magazine.
After 25 years of discussion (plus kids, mortgage, etc.) our first 2-seater is a 2008 GT PRHT. We love it! This is the perfect family car!!!! I served as IMC President in 2012. We recently moved to Tennesse.
