This special edition Miata was only offered in 2004 and 2005. Originally there were to be only 4000 of these versions built each year. In 2004 there were 4000 built, but a fire at the Mazda factory ceased production on the 2005 Mazdaspeed model with only 1428 being built making this 2005 Mazdaspeed one of the rarest and most sought after Miatas. Of the 1428 Mazdaspeeds being built in 2005, 413 were in Black Mica, 394 in Lava Orange, 366 in Titanium Gray and only 255 in Velocity Red making this Mazda the rarest color as well. This car is #688 and was produced on 11/07/2024.

The Mazdaspeed Miata still has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder, but it’s turbocharged, with an air-to-air intercooler that lets it develop 178 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. The added output cut the 0-60 time by 1.4 seconds and the ¼-mile by 1.3 seconds. Because of the added power, the Mazdaspeed Miata’s clutch, driveshaft, 6-speed manual, and the limited-slip differential are strengthened compared to the standard NB. It also has upgraded Bilstein shocks, stiffer springs, larger front and rear anti-roll bars, and a front strut-tower brace. Plus, the Mazdaspeed model rides lower than the base NB Mazda Miata and has wider tires on larger and lighter Racing Hart wheels.
